1893 - ALFRED DREYFUS - Jewish leader in France accused of being
a spy for the Germans. The rise of Anti-Semitism begins!
1894 - THEODOR HERZL -
Jewish reporter from Vienna, Austria
sent to cover the Dreyfus Case. He
was also a great writer and a playwright. He viewed the
Dreyfus Case and wrote about it in a book called "Der Judenstaat" (The Jewish State), an answer to the Jewish problem.
IN THE CHURCH - The Holiness Revival.
1897 - FIRST
ZIONIST CONGRESS was called and held on
August 29-31 in Basil, Switzerland. God blessed this
nation through 2 World Wars because of this act toward the Jews. This
laid the foundation for the Statehood of Israel some 50 years later.
(Note: Palestine was under Turkish rule for some 359 years).
1898 - HERZL visits the German Kaiser Wilhelm trying to obtain
Palestine for a Jewish Homeland. The visit was non-productive
at the time but again helped lay the groundwork for the future State of Israel.
IN THE CHURCH - The Welsh Revival.
1902 - HERZL - meets on May 9 with the British Government to seek
Cyprus or the Sinai as a Jewish Homeland. They were
under British rule at the time. These premature plans again
failed. In turn, the British offered lands in Kenya, Tanzania
and Uganda. When pre-sented to the Sixth Zionist Congress,
this plan was bitterly debated and totally rejected.
1904 - HERZL - died on July 3 of a broken heart in the belief that all of
his plans for a Jewish Homeland had failed. Nearly a
half-century later, his body was laid to rest on Mt. Herzl in the State of Israel. His dream had come to
pass!

IN THE CHURCH - The Pentecostal
Revival begins.
1906 - JEWS BEGIN ALIYAH - Pogroms in Russia drove out many
Jews forced to find refuge in Palestine. A 'Pogrom'
means 'destruct-ion, devastation, massacre'. The Bolshevik
Revolution/Communism.
1906 - ELIEZAR
PERLMAN (BEN-YEHUDA) - a young Jew from Eastern
Europe was sent to Paris to study. He contracted Tuberculosis
and was given only a short time to live. He was sent to the
hot, dry climate of North Africa. There he married a lovely
Jewish girl and was sent to Joppa. They determined to learn
and speak only Hebrew and did so with their 11 children. He
became the father of the modern Hebrew language.
1906 - KIBBUTZIM are set up in various waste places in Palestine.
Many of them were supported by BARON von ROTHSCHILD owner of the major banks of Europe and a strong supporter of Zionism. The
returning Jews began to make the Palestine wastelands become a fertile plain fulfilling many Old Testament Scriptures.
IN THE CHURCH - The Azuza Street
Revival.
1914 - A
PRODUCTIVE LAND is built out of nothing as over 40
Kibbutzim are now established in the Jezreel Valley and its environs. The
flourishing gardens were now feeding all of the Jews who had be-gun to return from the Diaspora.
IN THE CHURCH - The Assemblies
of God is formed.
1917 - GENERAL
EDMUND ALLENBY and his British troops took Palestine
from Beersheba and northward along the Mediterranean. This
was on October 31, REFORMATION DAY, when exactly 400 years previous Martin Luther nailed
his "95 Thesis"' on the church door at Wittenburg, Germany.
1917 - BRITISH
FOREIGN SECRETARY BALFOUR on November 2
wrote a declaration sympathizing with Jewish Zionism and declaring the establishing of a Jewish Homeland in Palestine. The 'Balfour Declaration' is well-known to this day in the State of Israel.

1917 - ALLENBY walked through the Jaffa Gate as a 'pilgrim' into the Old
City of Jerusalem. It was the first day of "Hannukah"
that year. It was declared the Day of Victory, November 11,
our Armistice and Veteran's Day in America.
IN THE CHURCH - Aimee
Semple McPherson establishes the Foursquare Gospel Church. The Pentecostal Revival continues.
1920 - SIR
HERBERT SAMUEL, a Jewish Zionist, became Britian's first
Governor General of Palestine. He was the first Jewish
ruler of that region since Herod Agrippa.
1920 - CHAIM
WEIZMANN called for Jews everywhere to now return to Jerusalem. Because so many would not hear, the Holocaust took place. God always
offers a way of escape if we will but hear Him.
1929 - GOLDA
MAEIR makes her Aliyah to the Holy Land. Though
it was still a land of swamps and hardships, it was rapidly fulfilling God's Word when "the
desert shall blossom as a rose". She eventually becomes
Prime Minister of the State of Israel.
IN THE CHURCH-The Pentecostal Movement grows worldwide.
1948 - THE
STATE OF ISRAEL IS BORN on May
14. David Ben Gurion
becomes the first President/Prime Minister of the New Nation.
(Note: The United States casts the deciding vote in the U.N. to create the
new State of Israel).
1948 - THE
DEAD SEA SCROLLS are discovered by an old shepherd
in the caves above Qumran, as if the sign and seal of
the Prophet Isaiah was upon the New Nation created by the Lord Himself.
1948 - THE
ANTHEM & THE FLAG were both so representative of this
New State of Israel. The National Anthem "Hatikvah"
(The Hope) was written and played by the Tel Aviv Philharmonic Orchestra. The
flag was designed by Isaac Wolfson at
the time of the First Zionist Congress but was now flying proudly for the very first time. The
blue and white stripes represent the prayer shawl and the 'Star of David' came from an ancient battle shield.

"The Latter Rain" PLUS New Ministries are birthed by the Holy Spirit!
1967 - THE
SIX-DAY WAR from June 7-13 freed Jerusalem and the
Western Wall and created a United City for the Glory of God.
IN THE CHURCH - Charismatic
Renewal unites the divided Body
of Christ.
1973 - THE
YOM KIPPUR WAR took place on October 6.
Israel was celebrating the solemnity of this Holy Day and was sleeping and unprepared for this attack of the enemy. The troops were fasting, resting, praying, but were suddenly summoned to the
battle. Israel was totally outnumbered in every way (40 to
1). 34 nations sided against little Israel and were sure
to win. Why couldn't they? Only
a miracle from God and the intervention of the Angels of the Lord of Hosts. (Read
II Kings 6:13-17).
IN THE CHURCH - The Shepherding/Submission
Movement
endeavored to divide the Body of Christ under the mantle of uniting. This and other scisims seek to divide, but God will give His people the victory as we war against the
attacker.
2000 - THE
TEMPLE MOUNT because of its Holy location and
historic value once again becomes the place of division as Ariel
haron visits the Mount in peace but the enemy makes it a sign of war. The
'Intifadah' has continued to this day with the suicide bombers, etc. trying to destroy the State of Israel.
IN THE CHURCH - Attacks of the
enemy endeavor to bring down the
Church in this 21st Century. The
promise of Jesus is this - "the gates of hell shall not prevail against the
Church!"
